Collection: Lost In The Garden

In nature, life and loss exist together, shaping each other and shaping us.

‘Lost in the Garden’ is an intricate and attentive study of loss and discovery, captured in the Rococo Dahlia, Wild Blackberry, Black Doris Plum, and Black Tulip Magnolia. Through these nostalgic plants, Gabrielle tells a story of the wily determination it takes to carry loss while holding tightly to the things that bring you joy, and enable growth.

"There is a quote that I love from Dr Lucy Hone (Resilient Grieving): “Don’t lose what you have, to what you have lost” and, as I created ‘Lost in the Garden,’ these words were woven into my process and are a reference point that drives me every day. In my second series, I discover what I have, and through each leaf, flower, branch, and bud, I expose all of it—wild, heavy, delicate, and soft—down to the tiniest detail. It is through this process of (re)discovery and analysis that I allow loss to sit with love, joy to sit with sorrow, and discomfort to sit with delight."

Gabrielle encourages people to get lost in the intensity of the detail, noticing the sharp, delicate, sweet, and chaotic elements of each plant. She invites you to reflect on memories and experiences that the artworks trigger for you. Remembering times of joy and times when you had to dig deep to find the good stuff, all enabling the building of a full, beautiful, and messy life—one leaf at a time.
